Citybox Oslo

This is Oslo’s ultimate "Budget Hero." It strips away the traditional hotel reception and minibar to deliver a low price for a location this central. Situated just three blocks from Oslo Central Station, it offers clean, modern, and compact rooms for travelers who just need a high-quality bed and a hot shower.

It operates on a fully self-service model. You check in via a kiosk similar to an airport terminal. There is no bellboy, no room service, and no TV in the room (stream on your own device using their fast Wi-Fi). This lean operation keeps the room rate significantly lower than its neighbors.

The rooms are functional and Scandinavian simple, think durable woods, bright lights, and excellent soundproofing. The rooms are undeniably compact, which is expected at this price point, but they are brand new and spotless. It is extremely popular with travelers who just use the hotel to sleep and who want to spend their budget on experiences rather than a lobby they won't use.

Built in the former headquarters of the Norwegian America Line, the company that shipped thousands of emigrants to the US in the early 1900s. More character than anything else in this part of Oslo. Two-minute walk from the airport train platform.
0.6km
The most historically significant hotel in Oslo, as central as it gets just steps from the Parliament and the Royal Palace.

Bristol has been in operation for more than a century. It's technically part of the Thon Hotels group, but nothing about being inside the building indicates that it is a chain hotel. The lobby has the weight of an old European grand hotel with wood-panelled corridors and original chandeliers.
