About Norway Insider

The dog you'll see throughout this site belongs to me, Chris. I have lived in Oslo for 15 years and built Norway Insider to help visitors navigate Norway and find the places worth their time and money.

The real face of the operation. The dog often comes along on my travels. Usually more interested in the snacks than the scenery.

What makes the cut

Nothing mediocre gets listed just to fill out an article. If a hotel, restaurant, or attraction appears on this site, it's because it's genuinely good. Not "fine for tourists", actually good.

Personal taste still matters. A converted rorbu with an iconic view above the water with patchy WiFi isn't for everyone, and neither is a six-hour ridge hike. A five star hotel might not fit your budget, and a budget hostel might not be your preferred accommodation. But the baseline is high across the board, and each recommendation is amongst the best in its category.

How articles get made

AI tools do the heavy lifting on research: aggregating reviews, cross-referencing sources, processing data that would take weeks to compile manually. The writing starts there too.

But the final call on what gets recommended, the local knowledge, the curation, the "skip this and do that instead" opinions, and every fact-check and final edit before publishing: that's me. AI is my highly productive employee, I'm the editor.

What pays the bills

Nobody pays to be featured. Recommendations are based on merit, not commission rates.

The site carries display ads and some affiliate links. If you book a hotel or tour through a link here, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This doesn't influence what gets recommended or how it's ranked.

Up to date information

The site launched in 2026 and everything on it is current. Prices and hours are checked against official sources before publishing and kept up to date, though details drift and minor errors creep in. What you won't find is stale information from three years ago. Every page shows when it was last updated.

When something changes or turns out to be wrong, it gets fixed. Spot an error? Email hello@norwayinsider.com and it'll be sorted. I would love to hear from you if you have any feedback.
