This site is made by Norwegians who would rather you spend your time in Oslo eating at the places we'd actually go to than wandering into the first tourist menu you see on Karl Johans gate. The same goes for where you sleep, what you visit, and how you get around. We've done the filtering so you don't have to.
Norway Insider exists because most travel guides tell you what to see. We tell you how to see it smarter. Which floor to start on at the Munch Museum. Which train to take from the airport. Which restaurants locals frequent.
How We Pick What Goes on the Site
Every place on this site is one we'd send a friend to. There are no filler entries, no "visit at your own risk" warnings, no hotels we'd quietly steer you away from. If something isn't listed here, it's either brand new or it didn't make the cut.
Not every recommendation suits every traveller, though. Some places are worth the splurge, others are great on a tighter budget. Some are perfect for a rainy afternoon, others need clear skies. We flag the trade-offs so you can decide what fits your trip.
The very best of what we recommend gets our Insider's Pick badge. That's reserved for places where we'd genuinely rearrange a day's itinerary to make sure you don't miss them.
What We Don't Do
We don't write sponsored content. Nobody pays to be featured here. And we don't pretend everything in Norway is perfect. There are trade offs to everything, we will tell you what they are.
Why Trust Us
We live here, and we're opinionated about it. We know which neighbourhoods reward a morning walk, which restaurants the locals actually book for their birthdays, and which scenic routes are worth the extra hour.
