Radisson Blu Nydalen Hotel

A proper 4-star Radisson Blu at lower-than-downtown prices, with a metro station practically attached to the building.

The Metro station is practically in the basement. That single fact is the entire pitch for this hotel. You're 10 minutes from central Oslo by metro, and the entrance to Nydalen station is steps from the front door. If you can live with that commute, you'll pay noticeably less than you would downtown for a clean, modern Radisson Blu room.

The trade-off is real, though. Nydalen is a business district. Glass office buildings, the BI Norwegian Business School across the street, and not much else once the workday ends. Weekends and evenings, the surrounding blocks go quiet in a way that feels slightly abandoned rather than peaceful. The Akerselva river path right outside is genuinely great for a morning run, passing waterfalls and old brick industrial buildings, but it's not a substitute for a neighborhood with restaurants and bars.

Rooms are Scandi-corporate. Clean lines, functional, nothing surprising. Standard rooms come with kettles and instant coffee. If that sounds depressing, upgrade to a Premium room for a Nespresso machine. The bathrooms in standard rooms run tight, and the AC can be loud and dry, so ask about that when booking. Request a river-view room on a high floor. The alternative is staring at office buildings.

The on-site N33 restaurant does Nordic-Mediterranean food. It's convenient but priced like everything else in Oslo. The Storo Storsenter mall is a short walk away for cheaper food court options.

Ask for a river-view room on a high floor. The other side faces office buildings. Premium rooms get Nespresso machines, standard rooms only get instant coffee and a kettle.

A corporate business district on the Aker River. Pleasant during work hours, borderline deserted evenings and weekends. The river path is the saving grace.
